Sydney Sweeney’s dad walked out of room after watching her in X-rated role

Sydney Sweeney has revealed that her dad and grandfather walked out of the room after watching her in a particularly risqué role.

The 27-year-old actress has enjoyed a glittering career since bursting onto the scene, appearing in projects such as Anyone but YouImmaculate and The White Lotus.

However, the actress has also learned that a career in Hollywood isn’t always as fun as it looks, especially when it comes to the topic of sexually explicit content and family members.

One of the most recognisable roles of Sweeney’s was her breakout role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s Euphoria.

Set in a fictional high school in California, the gritty teen series tackles numerous heavy topics – such as drug abuse, revenge porn, mental illness and dating violence. Cassie’s storylines in particular revolved included abortion, infidelity and low self-esteem due to hyper-sexualisation.

The series has since received praise from critics and fans for its decision to boldly tackle heavy storylines. However, it has also meant that its cast was left in an awkward position when it came to friends and family.

Recalling her relative’s reactions to the show, Sweeney explained that her mum was fully aware of the explicit nature of the series as she had visited her numerous times on set – however, she didn’t pre-warn her dad at all about the role.

“My mum visited me on set quite a few times, so she knew the story,” she said in an interview with NBC’s Sunday Today last year, before adding with a laugh: “I didn’t prepare my dad at all.”

This only became a problem when her father decided to hold a viewing party for the show with none other than Sweeney’s grandparents without telling her, who were shocked by what they witnessed on screen.

“My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,” she admitted.

However, not everyone in the room was left feeling a little embarrassed, with the actress going on to add that her grandma hadn’t been phased.

“My grandma… she’s a fan. She’s a big supporter,” Sweeney added.

“I bring her all over the world to my different sets and I make her an extra.”

So it’s safe to say that grandma Sweeney will likely be tuning in for Euphoria season 3… if the series ever comes to fruition.

Commissioned back in February 2022, production on the third outing has faced numerous setbacks due to the now-resolved Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, as well as busy schedules of cast members such as Jacob Elordi and Zendaya.

HBO has since confirmed that production will begin in early 2025, with a release date yet to be confirmed.

Sydney Sweeney admitted she loves ‘challenging’ herself

Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a grizzly new biopic directed by David Michôd.

The project, which is yet to be given a title, will depict the real-life story of one of America‘s most notorious female boxers.

Christy Martin – who was the only female boxer to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated – was an incredibly talented fighter and found fame when she signed with promoter Don King.

Speaking to The Guardian about her success as a female boxer, Martin said: “We were all just struggling to get a break. And for whatever reason, I was just lucky and in the right place at the right time.

“Jesse Robinson, who was training fighters for Don King, saw me training in a gym in Daytona Beach, Florida. And after a while he told me, ‘I’m gonna take you to Don.’ I’m thinking, ‘Sure you are.’

“But then I get a call one day and Jesse says, ‘Don wants to see you.’ I jumped in the car, drove down to Deerfield Beach and signed the contract.”

But behind her boxing persona, Martin struggled with substance abuse, domestic violence and was almost killed in a devastating attack.

On November 23, 2010, Martin was approached in her bedroom by her husband at the time, Jim, who was armed with a knife and gun.

Despite being stabbed four times and shot in the chest, Martin miraculously survived.

Speaking to Deadline, Sweeney explained she’s ready to take on the challenge of telling Martin’s story.

“I grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old. I’ve been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body. Christy’s story isn’t a light one, it’s physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself,” she said.

“Christy Martin not only legitimized female boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse.

“I’m passionate about the fighting world, Christy’s story shines a light on her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of fame behind the curtains. I feel compelled to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow it to defeat her. It’s powerful, and emotional.”

Director Michôd added: “I have a history of making movies about damaged men and I’d been wanting to make a film about a woman with a ferocious energy inside her.

“When I came across the Christy Martin story two years ago I knew I’d found it. Her ferocity is intelligible and justifiable and audiences will crave it because of the circumstances she was forced to endure.”

When it comes to films like This is The End, most actors have a fairly good idea of what they’re signing up for.

Whether it be Channing Tatum in a gimp suit, the numerous shot at every single actor’s career with them playing themselves, or just one of the many, many weird scenes in the film, the actors were pushed to their limits of comfort comedically.

For those who live under a rock, This is The End follows a group of Hollywood celebrities, all of whom are playing heightened versions of themselves.

James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, and Danny McBride star in the film, and try to survive the end of the world.

From Rogen and his fellow Superbad cocreator Evan Goldberg, the film has developed a cult following and managed to rake in over $125 million when it came out in 2013.

One actor who didn’t quite enjoy the male-focused and sometimes crude humour of the film, however, was Emma Watson.

Watson, who did make a small appearance in the film, walked off the set of the film, a move which Seth Rogen later said she was right to do.

The Harry Potter actor reportedly refused to film a scene involving Channing Tatum in a gimp mask being walked on a chain by a now cannibalistic Danny McBride.

Whilst unclear what the scene involving Watson would have entailed, a final version of this did end up making the film without her in it.

Rogen said in an interview with GQ in 2021: “I mean, I don’t look back on that and think: ‘How dare she do that?’ You know?

“I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life, it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was.

“But it was not some terrible ending to our relationship. She came back the next day to say goodbye.

“She helped promote the film.

“No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”

“She was probably right. It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”

The film is fairly batsh*t, so it is relatively shocking that they got all the celebrities they did to agree to it.

In previous interviews, Evan Goldberg said he made it a goal of his to get actors to say ‘no’ on set, and the only holdouts throughout filming was James Franco and Seth Rogen.

Married at First Sight groom who was criticised for pulling a pretty ‘harsh’ prank on his wife-to-be at the altar decided to turn things up a notch at the reception.

The newest season of the reality dating show dropped on E4 on Monday (16 September) with a brand new group of singletons looking to find love with a stranger.

In the first wedding of this season, dog walker Kristina, 30, and mechanic Kieran, 28, met at the altar for the first time.

But Kieran pulled a pretty big prank on his bride, putting in a pair of false teeth as he waited at the end of the aisle.

When the pair meet for the first time, Kristina doesn’t know where to look.

“This could really end up bad,” Kieran himself admitted. “But I just want to know if this girl is funny.”

Unsurprisingly, she could not keep a straight face after seeing his teeth.

But despite some warnings from one of Kieran’s groomsmen, Kristina finds the whole thing hilarious and bursts out laughing once Kieran reveals his true smile.

You’d think after a prank like that, Kieran might be done for the day. But the groom had another surprise.

Once the vows were complete, the pair headed to their reception, where Kieran performed a song he had composed for Kristina.

But it wasn’t quite the heartfelt ballad guests were expecting. In fact, viewers at home were stunned at the song, especially when the lyrics took a disgusting turn.

One person wrote on X: “Cannot quite believe that song Kieran just sang.”

While another said: “Did Kieran just say that she could take a s**t on his chest in a song?”

And a third asked: “Why is he singing a song about s******g on his wife’s chest to the whole reception?!”

Despite the unusual approach, Kristina told her mum that she ‘really liked him’.

Although Kieran had been concerned that Kristina would be put off by the fact he lived in a static caravan with his dog Hugo, turns out she was actually overjoyed at the setup.

Breaking down in floods of tears, she said: “How amazing is it, him being outdoors, living in the caravan, that has made my heart so full.

“Hats off to him for doing it. I’m here for it, I’m moving in.”

Sebastian Stan was praised for calling out a reporter who called his co-star a ‘beast’ ahead of their new movie being released.

Earlier this year, the Marvel actor was speaking at the Berlin Film Festival with his cast mates for a Q&A.

Stan is set to star in A Different Man alongside Adam Pearson and Renate Reinsve when it hits cinemas on 4 October.

The drama thriller follows the story of Edward (Stan) who, after having facial reconstructive surgery, becomes fixated on an actor playing pre-surgery him in a stage play.

Edward becomes fascinated with how the actor, Oswald (Pearson), is not interested in undergoing reconstructive treatment.

In real life, Pearson has the skin condition neurofibromatosis, which causes non-cancerous tumours to grow on nerve tissue.

During the press conference, Stan was praised for his reaction when a journalist used the word ‘beast’ to describe Edward before surgery transformed his appearance.

“What do you think happens after the transformation from this so-called beast, as they call him, to this perfect man?” the journalist asked.

Stan then replied: “I am gonna call you out a bit on the choice of words there, because I think part of why the film is important is because we often don’t have maybe even the right vocabulary.

“I think it’s a little more complex than that, and obviously there’s language barriers and so on, but you know, ‘beast’ isn’t the word I think.”

The actor added: “I think ultimately it’s just interesting to hear this point, because I feel to some extent that’s one of the things the film is saying, you know, is that we have these preconceived ideas.”

“We’re not really educated on how to really understand this experience. So I can’t really speak to that, one of the things I love about the movie is that he’s offering you a way to kind of look at it.

“Hopefully if you can have the same objective point of view while you’re experiencing the film, then maybe you can pick apart the initial instincts that you have, and maybe those aren’t always the right ones.”

Pearson also said: “This was the hook that we gave to Sebastian – You don’t know what it’s like to have a disfigurement, but you do know what it’s like to not have privacy and to have your life constantly invaded.

“You become public property.”

And viewers praised Stan, as one person commented: “So Sebastian was definitely right about checking that guy on his choice of words great job Sebastian way to defend and stick up for a fellow colleague and actor.”

While others noted that he did it ‘politely and eloquently’.
